Bill CannanCaptain Bill fishes the bluewaters out of Galveston and Pt. O'Connor. His boat is a 36' Yellowfin powered by triple Yamaha F250's named "BIDNEZ". She is immaculately maintained, comfortable, and will get you to and from the bluewater quickly and safely. The boat is equipped with all USCG approved gear. Capt. Bill is a licensed USGC Captain and has all the necessary permits to keep him in compliance with National Marine Fisheries Services.
Capt. Bill takes advantage of the seasonal opportunities as they are presented throughout the year. Bluewater trips trolling for blue marlin, sailfish, dorado, tuna, and wahoo are available year 'round. Bottom fishing for red snapper, grouper, amberjack, ling, and kingfish are available when in season. Tarpon fishing is available from June through October.
All tackle is provided when you are fishing with Capt. Bill. Bait, ice, and fuel is included on his trips also. He provides top notch equipment, a fleet of fishing rods touting Avet Reels, all in perfect working order. Capt. Bill has taken thousands of successful guided trips since 1991.

June 16, 2010 I had the Moragne brothers out today for some offshore action. They are both entered in the STAR Tourney so we went looking for a giant kingfish. Michael caught the best king of the day that was pushing 40 pounds but not over so we used a de-hooking device and let that one and all of the kings we caugh...t live. Younger brother Chris, as usual, caught a good wahoo. It got tail whipped and died on the line and was dead weight for the last part of the battle, just when I thought I had seen it all...

 

6/20/10 Rob Wilson, his wife Beth, and James Bass were out with me yesterday pulling lures for blue marlin.  The weather man was actually just a little off with the 2' seas or less prediction, it was really 4' with an occasional 5'er.  So the run to the Breaks was a little bumpy and with no complaints but we did get a holler from Beth as we hit a wave that woke her up from a nice nap she was having on the run in her beanbag!  We got the spread out at 8am and quickly caught a couple of 10lb dorado, then a small wahoo, then a solid dorado in the 35lb range, and managed one more small wahoo after lunch.  We finished up over at Falcon which is where the 2nd wahoo was caught.  Rob loves to eat wahoo and dorado so he was stoked to have some dinner fish in the box.  We didn't see any blues and I didn't hear about any hookups on the radio but we will be back out there all week in preparation for the LoneStar Shootout Billfish Tournament next weekend out of POC. Vance Dato drove down from Dallas to battle some giant fish in the Gulf of Mexico.  He was on a mission to fill his cooler with fillets and he made that real clear on the phone!  He brought his girlfriend Nina, son Chase, and friend Darryl.  We ran 35 miles and caught bait, then bump trolled them around structure for kingfish.  All the kings were from 37 pounds to 42 pounds with Nina catching the biggest one.  Ran a little further for AJ’s and had no current and struck out on that deal, we dropped a bait to the bottom in 256’ of water and Darryl caught a nice Warsaw Grouper that had him pinned on the gunnel for a bit, it was a great fight.  Right after that we put out 2 live blue runners and bump trolled those around for all of 5 minutes until a giant dorado smokes the long line.  Vance gets on the reel and 25 minutes later we gaff a 43lb 6oz dorado.  Caught a quick limit of snapper on the way in and made it the Fishing Center to weigh his dorado.  Vance was entered in the STAR Tournament and is the current leader with his dorado! I took some friends out Saturday afternoon: Capt. Wayne Timmermann, Capt. I had John Martin, Mike Stoecker, James Vernon, and Scott Stephens out for some POC Style offshore fishing, they wanted a meat run and that's what they got.  These guys are all from my hometown of Conroe, Texas.  We spent the first half of the day bump trolling live blue runners.  Scott Stephens caught our biggest king at 45lbs and change, none were under 35 pounds.  While we were using this technique a 65 pound wahoo comes up and smokes one of our live baits, one hour later Mike Stoecker landed his trophy wahoo.  We finished up with a limit of snapper and a couple of ling to boot. I took Trey Harris, his son Tucker Harris, Trey’s cousin Kevin Harris, and friend Heath Marek on a trip out of POC.  We went out towards the East Break and found a big weed mat that was loaded with bait, so we filled the livewell with blue runners and headed for a nearby wreck in 302’ of water.  It took four drops to catch their limit of AJ’s, the fish were in the 40 pound range.  Made another pass with the biggest blue runner in the well and caught a nice Warsaw Grouper.  Right after that Tucker hooked up on a solid Gag Grouper that we had to get him harnessed up for.  Hit another weed mat and loaded up on chicken dolphin to round out the box. To book a trip call 281-300-5806!
